E-mail marketing can drive many more clients to your Web site. With relative ease and affordability, you can tell large numbers of people about the products and services you site offers. Just consider the fact that sending an e-mail is so much cheaper than the cost of printing fliers and buying postage for snail mail. Also, these days, almost everyone has an e-mail account that they check multiple times a day, so recipients will see what you have to offer almost immediately, and you are not missing out on the market by employing only this method.

With e-mail marketing you can also get your product or service information directly to your target customer. Many people who use the internet have opted in to receiving e-mails on subjects of interest to them. You do not have to wait and hope that the right customers will stop by uninvited. The rate of return on your e-mail marketing investment can be tracked and has shown to be very effective; research shows only search engine marketing gets better results. You can also use different technologies to see how many people actually opened your e-mail, went to your Web site through a link provided in your e-mail, and bought something from your Web site after clicking a link in your e-mail.

After hearing all of this, you may be thinking about the word spam. You need to make sure your e-mails are opened and not sent to a spam folder or automatically deleted. One of the best ways to ensure this is to offer something free on your Web site, such as a newsletter or discount coupons that will be sent directly to potential customers’ inboxes if they provide their name an e-mail address. It is common knowledge that you will have many more visitors to your Web site than actual customers. A greater percentage will sign up for offers, however. Once they sign up, make sure to let them know to add you to their spam filter to ensure they receive the information they requested and you want to provide them with. This works twofold in that these potential customers are getting occasional reminders that your Web site exists, and second, if they see something of interest, they might not only visit your Web site for it but also spread the word. Research shows that most people will forward on something of interest to other contacts in their address book. This will get you even more potential customers.

Sender Policy Framework (SPF) is a system designed to fight SPAM emails. One of the main problems with SPAM is that messages are forged so they appear to originate from a different domain name. This is known as email spoofing.

An SPF record keeps track of the servers that are permitted to send email on behalf of your domain name. The recipeint of email from your domain can then check this SPF record to see if it has originated from an email server on your list. If the email has not come from a server on your list it can be discarded. If it has come from a server listed in your SPF record, the email will be classed as genuine. This renders your domain less susceptible to email spoofing.

For more information on the Sender Policy Framework, see the project website at: http://www.openspf.org.

In today’s business world, the Internet is a crucial tool. In order to fully utilize the Internet, you need to have a website. But not just any website will do – a five year old website with shoddy graphics and a bad layout will hinder you more than help you. Visitors expect to see updated, well-done and user-friendly websites. If refusing to redesign a website is your idea of saving money, consider these statistics: a total of 89% of US Internet users do research online, and 71% of all consumers check business websites before buying something.

If you don’t have an updated website, visitors may be turned off by bad graphics and layouts, slow-loading pages, error pages and difficult navigation. It doesn’t matter if you are offering excellent products or services – a negative first impression will leave a bad taste in a visitor’s mouth, driving them to a more user-friendly competitor’s website. A poorly designed website does not inspire confidence in the company or make the visitor feel like a valued customer. If you somehow manage to sell something, the odds that the buyer will come back to your badly designed website are slim. Imagine that your website is a physical store location: you will lose customers if you do not keep it clean, organized and interesting.

Visitors like finding new and relevant content on websites. If your website features the same old and obsolete information for even a few months, visitors will lose interest and look for a website that offers the information they are looking for. If you have not had your website properly optimized for search engines, visitors will not be able to find your site. Search engines have a hard time indexing older websites. Many up to date websites also advertise themselves through social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook. These websites appeal to an Internet savvy crowd and maintain interest by offering visitors the ability to interact with them. By being socially savvy, these websites cater to customers in a more customized and personal way than an older and unconnected website can.

Redesigning your website can actually save you money in the long run. Over time, an old website may require complicated and costly maintenance. A new website can be designed in a simple yet effective style that requires far less maintenance, provides better results and is easy to upgrade. Instead of hiring a web professional every time you need to update content, you’ll be able to make changes yourself. Redesign your website today! What was once a poorly designed website that turned off potential customers can be transformed into something user-friendly, incredibly attractive and profitable.

Long ago, there was the internet and it was good. The only problems was you could only access the internet at set places such as work or your home. So if you wanted to check your email or the score of your favorite baseball team online you would have to wait till you were in front of a computer. Thankfully, that is no longer the case. With advancements in mobile devices such as PDAs, cellphones, media players and handheld video game systems you can know access the internet from nearly anywhere. But even with these advances, designing websites and content solely for use on mobile devices is different than a standard website.

The first thing to keep in mind is that the typical mobile device has a lower resolution and a smaller screen size than your average computer or laptop. All the media for the site will have to account for these differences. For example, you will need to make sure that any images, graphics or logos are small enough in size and dimension to fit properly on the screen. You will also want to make sure that any hard set parameters such as page or table sizes are also within an acceptable size if you want to make sure people don’t have to scroll all over your page to simply read a full sentence of content.

Another thing that is typically a unique issue when dealing with website design with mobile devices in mind is compatibility. Some of the popular softwares for embedding media or animation on websites are not supported by some mobile devices. One prime example is that a lot of smart phones currently on the market, including the iPhone and Android, do not support Macromedia Flash. So things that you would do on a normal website such as embed a .flv player or post an animated splash screen would not be prudent. In other words, be sure to check the compatibility of any media, software or scripts against what is currently supported on the most popular mobile devices or you might accidently alienate a large base of your target market from the get go.

So while the mobile market is growing quickly, and we are seeing an increase in the capability of these devices almost daily, there are still some key differences to keep in mind when designing web content for them.

This may happen if your computer is looking in the wrong place to see your website. This can occur if:

The domain has been moved to another server within the last 24 hours.

The nameservers on the domain name have been changed within the last 72 hours.

The domain name was registered less than 72 hours ago.

If this is the case you should wait for the allotted time before trying the site again. For piece of mind you can use the test domain link shown within your control panel.

If you visit a website regularly your computer may store a saved copy of the website for you to view. This allows your computer to view the website from a local copy, speeding up the time it takes to display in your webbrowser.

Sometimes when you make a change to your website the changes will not appear instantly, as you are actually viewing a saved (cached) copy of your website. These cached copys will only be stored in your computer for a short time, so the changes to your website will usually be viewable after a few hours.

For website owners, the object is often times to drive traffic to their website. The main theory being that the more traffic to a website, the more money there is to be made. Depending on the content of the website, it’s articles and contributors, websites are listed with various search engines, such as Google, Bing, Yahoo, and so forth.

Then, when search engine users do a search for terms, called ‘keywords’, results show up on the screen in front of them for the particular search engine used.

Naturally occurring or “organic” search results are shown in the main body of the page. These are mainly results from websites that have a naturally occurring frequency of the same keywords that the user has searched for.

Website businesses can also pay to have their websites show up more frequently than others through services such as Google Adwords, on the right hand side of the search result screen, based on the frequency of certain users keyword searches. There are lists online which are kept updated often, as to the frequent usage of certain keywords and the amount of times that those words are searched for by users on any particular search engine. These types of keyword listings are called PPC, or pay per click.

Google has an excellent tutorial about Google Adwords, other sites also have their own similar types of programs, where the website owners actually go in and bid on certain PPC key words.

Keep in mind that the object of doing so is often times not only to generate traffic to the website, but also then to have a certain percentage of the traffic that is generated there purchase the product or sign up for something on the website, in order to generate actual clientele.

In organic search results, the website will show up along with others that have the same keywords in their content, yet perhaps not as frequently, and not as prominently on the first few pages of the search engines results.

PPC searches cost money, however may increase traffic flow to the site.

Both organic, and pay per click search results are beneficial, if the website knows who it’s target audience is, their budget, and has done the basic fundamental steps in determining other important factors the website will be successful.

Web hosting services allow average Internet users to share their websites with the world. But have you ever wondered what a web hosting service does, and what exactly you are getting for your money when you use one?

Simply put web hosting devices offer storage space for your website on the Internet. In order for your site to be seen by other Internet users, it has to be stored on a server. Think of servers like the massive hard drives of the Internet. They hold the information that makes up your website, and allow others access to view the site.

Servers often large computers that are expensive and ofen difficult for the average user to maintain or store. This is where your website hosting company comes in. They own or rent servers, then rent you a portion of the space on the server to house or “host” your site.

Paid web hosting services will rent you this space for a fee. That fee is usually based on the amount of server space the site takes up, as well as the level of traffic a site expects to recive. A paid web hosting service is the best choice for larger sites or those that need a professional ad-free look.

Free website hosting services cover the cost of renting you the server space with advertising. This is generally done by an ad or a series of ads on the pages of the website by the web hosting service. This Type of website hosting service is good for smaller personal websites.

Web hosts often offer additional services that help you run your web site more effectively. Services like Email, scripting & databases, blogs, email marketing, and content management systems are just a few.

This is going to have many pages and will need to be constantly updated. In order to manage the content from many people who are contributing to the site, you will find the need for a CMS is paramount. There are many available such as Drupal, WordPress, MODx and Joomla.

What better way to manage your site than to use a CMS? What are the advantages of using this software? For one, users can publish their site without any technical knowledge. They do not have to upload their work. It is as simple as logging into the site and writing their content. Since they are database driven the ease of storing hundreds of pages without having to update each and every one is a feature that you will love.

When you download the CMS software, your site will be ready to go. Since the design of the site has nothing to do with the content you can change this whenever you want. Refreshing the design from time to time is an option that you will want and it does not affect the site content.

Another advantage to the CMS software is the attraction of visitors to the site. Because the site is constantly updated it is very search engine responsive. Many CMS sites have a feature that automatically creates Meta tags for the web pages. This allows the search engines to index the content that makes finding your site that much easier.

The ease of creating a draft of your content and saving it to publish later is another advantage. This is a very handy tool if you have blogs that you want to organize by content. For example, if a blog entry is about the economy today, they can be arranged so that each blog dealing with this subject is easily accessible from the first one to the 1000th.

The CMS software allows access to the site from anywhere in the world with access to a computer. All that is needed is an Internet connection and you are ready to edit, add or update. There are many add-ons included with most CMS software that you may want to use as well. For instance, if you want to add forums to your site, this software will allow this add-on.

CMS software is based on MySQL and PHP which is awesome when you understand what this means for your website. The use of PHP will allow you to create one area of your site for members. This will allow registration and then log-in so they may create their site. Their information is put in the MySQL database which then allows you to track the users when they are logged in to the site.

There is no doubt that CMS software will be the best tool you will have for your website or blog.
